In Conversation: Eliza Evans

Monday, July 13, 10am

Join us for an online interview featuring artist Eliza Evans in conversation with Tal Beery of Arts and Ecology. A public installation by Evans was awarded a 2020 Arts for Sullivan Grant and will be installed in Sullivan County later this summer.

This discussion will focus on Evans' latest project, All the Way to Hell, an activist art project for disrupting fossil fuel development on private land in the US. Considering Sullivan County’s recent history (and present concerns) regarding hydraulic fracturing. This work will be discussed within the context of Evans’ other recent work, particularly Cradle (2018), Quench (2018), and Transpiration (2017), works that are concerned with the practice and disruption of domination over nature. Evans’ creates sophisticated conceptual art that is, like all good art, immediate and accessible, and opens space for discussion about the role of art and artists in confronting ecological crisis today.
